About Me.
Virginia was educated at Rochester Institute of Technology at the School for American Craftsmen with a B.F.A. in metal crafts and jewelry making.
Virginia has a small studio at her residence in Cranston, RI where she designs and produces her unique line of handcrafted jewelry. Her line is all genuine sterling silver with semiprecious stones. cubic zirconia, or freshwater pearls combined in a unique way in her own distinctive style. Each high quality piece is designed and handcrafted by the artist. |
Virginia is inspired by modern forms as well as forms from antiquity. Some of her work is fabricated using sterling wire or sheet and some are sculpted or built to make a model using wax, clay or metal. These models are then cast into sterling or gold and combined with stones, beads, or pearls. Each piece has a unique play of shape, space, movement, or color to produce a distinctive wearable work of art.
Virginia enjoys working with metals and stones to bring out their inherently unique and striking qualities. Nature provides beautiful raw materials, and Virginia feels the artist’s drive to translate those raw materials into her vision of wearable works of art. Her pieces are designed to be worn, to enhance the everyday aesthetic of life. Art is an integral part of life. The two cannot be separated. Wearing beautiful objects is a simple way to integrate art into your life and to connect with it in a very direct and personal way.
